This lesson teaches some of the guitar techniques
used by guitarist James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett of Metallica,
teaching parts of songs that have also been analyzed and broken
down into explanation's of guitar chords and scales to help
teach some of the elements that are included in Metallica's
playing style.
Metallica * Wherever I May Roam
This classic hit by Metallica makes a good study for
applying "octaves". As shown in example #1, an octave is
the same note at a higher (or lower) pitch. Shown in this
example as Low E, then 12 frets higher, E octave (high E).
Alternate methods of finding octaves are shown in examples
2-5. This lesson teaches the Sitar arranged for guitar,
which provides a far eastern dissonant sound.

This Metallica song is played in a Drop C tuning.
You may notice that it's difficult to stay in tune
when tuning this low.
So make sure that you have a new set of strings, and
break them in well, by stretching them good before
tuning to eliminate any unwanted slack which could
