Guitar Barre chords

C Shaped Barre Chords

				
The C shaped barre chord is another moveable form
of a guitar chord that will allow you to change 
chords without having to change fingerings. The
index finger barres (holds down the strings) and 
frets the notes played on the small e and G stings, 
while the middle finger is placed on the B string, 
the ring finger is then placed on D string and the 
pinky finger is placed upon the A string as indicated 
below, showing the chord C# major.

Here's what this chord looks like when written in 
tablature.

The sound that is altered from standard and traditonal
chord positions is dramatic. Try comparing the standard
position for F major chord (example #1 below) to the 
C shaped F major barre chord, shown as example #2.

How These Chords Are Moveable
The "roote note" is the first note played that determines
the letter name of the chord. For example:

    C# = C# major chord     D = D major chord

D :-------------------------------------------------|
A :-4-----------------------5-----------------------|
E :-------------------------------------------------|

When changing chords from C# to D, simply slide your
frethand up 1 fret.

   C#                D

G :-1----------------2------------------------------|
D :-3----------------4------------------------------|
A :-4----------------5------------------------------|
E :-------------------------------------------------|
