11-26-2003 * Chromatic Ascending Lead Pattern * Key of A
It's common for guitarist to use lead patterns to add
an eccentric style and sound when playing a lead guitar
solo. This specially selected guitar lick demonstrates
beginning in Low A, and moving chromatically (1 fret at
a time) while ascending (moving up the neck). This very
useful guitar lick can be adapted to country, southern
rock, jazz or heavy metal.

11-27-2003 * Gary Richrath * Flyin Turkey Trot
This lesson is a tribute to former REO Speedwagon guitarist
Gary Ritchrath, who now fronts his own band, the "Gary
Richrath Band". Gary is an amazing guitarist who offers
a wide variety of playing styles and sounds. The guitar
licks taught in this lesson are from "REO Speedwagon Live"
and are taken from the song "Flyin Turkey Trot", which
featured "Gary's Solo", and incredible display of extreme
guitar talent. Part 1 shows the basics for the song intro,
played in G. Part 2 (not shown) moves to A, by moving this
riff up 2 frets. Part 3 demonstrates the chord change, as
the song modulates back to G, to start over.

11-30-2003 * C Melodic Minor Guitar Licks
This guitar lick is a good example of the classic licks
you'll hear from shredders like Dave Mustaine or Marty
Friedman. The notes played are devirived from the scale
C melodic minor. As it's important for a guitarist to learn,
create and improvise guitar licks, this lesson teaches 2
different guitar licks to help give a better idea of where
to apply techniques within this scale.

12-02-2003 * Garth Brooks * Two Of A Kind
This song is well worth learning for it's common picking
and strumming patterns that are common among country music.
This is a summary of the song intro and verses. Note that
the technique of playing the open strings inbetween the
chords is often referred to as "alternate bass strumming".
In a D major chord, it's most common to add the open D
and open A string as the alternating bass notes. In G7
chord, it's often common to "maintain the flow" by adding
the alternate strumming (d=down, u=up), while in the A7
chord, it's found most common that the alternating bass
notes are open A, and open E string.
