Blues Guitar Scales & Blues Guitar Runs

When playing or improvising a guitar solo, or guitar
solo licks in any given key, the main 3 scales which
most guitarist use would include...

1)The Blues Scale

2)Minor Pentatonic Scale 3)Major Pentatonic Scale.

This lesson teaches these 3 scales in the key of C.These
given forms of each scale, provide a "box" scale shape that
will become visually easy to see after you have memorized
each "pattern".

Some of the best practice methods you can use when learning
and practicing scales are to...
1) Memorize the notes played in each scale.

2) study the tonic note and octave of each
scale.

It is also good practice for developing your pick
hand to practice scales using alternate picking (down, up,
down, up, etc..) while playing these scales ascending
and descending,as all examples shown in this lesson.

Note that while playing lead guitar, that most guitarist
often choose alternate fingerings for strength and endurance.

However, when practicing scales, it is important to use
the 1 finger per fret rule as shown below each guitar
tablature staff.

Codes: i=index m=middle r=ring p=pinky

The notes played in each scale are shown above the tablature
staff's.

C Blues * Alternate Blues Endings

This lesson explores alternate endings that can be used
to end blues songs. These examples are taught in the key
of C. Aside from the traditional endings that were taught
and reviewed so far, these alternate endings show how
dramatically the sound may change when the right choice
of blues chords are applied when ending a blues song.
The primary choice of chords for many blues endings are
as shown below 9th chords, 7th chords and their octaves.
