Free Guitar Ebook Black Sabbath Lead Guitar Lesson
This lesson has been specially created by instructor
Scott Morris and teaches the lead guitar solo to
"Fairies Wear Boots" which was composed and created
by Black Sabbath guitarist - Tony Iommi.
Black Sabbath * Fairies Wear Boots * Part 1
This guitar lick is derived from G pentatonic minor "box"
scale. Shown below is the intro to this song in example
#1. Example #2 is G pentatonic minor scale.

changing keys. Shown below, solo #1 is played in A minor.

Part 3 * Octaves
Exercise #1 is based on the octaves that are played.
If you've been looking for a good workout to improve your
octave technique, this exercise you may find challenging
to learn, yet the end results will be rewarding.
Exercise #2 demonstrates the chord progression that occurs
before moving to C# as guitar solo #2 begins.
Exercise #3 teaches the scale C# minor pentatonic which
was used by Tony Iommi when composing the guitar solo licks
for solo #2.

Part 4 * Fairies Wear Boots Guitar Solo 2
These are the actual licks from guitar solo #2. These are
some of the best licks a beginning lead guitarist can learn.
Many times beginners get anxious and attempt to jump head
first into a fast and hard to play solo, for example:
Metallica's "Jump Into The Fire".
This solo is slower paced, yet demonstrates the importance
of adding techniques like hammer-ons, pull-offs and string
bends to scales to create and or compose guitar solo licks.
Example #1 shows the chord progression that modulates to C#,
as example #2 shows how this classic guitar solo begins in
C# minor pentatonic.

Fairies Wear Boots * Part 6
This is one of the best examples of how a lead guitarist
will often play "Low" on the neck, then move up "High"
or to a higher position. It's important that you understand
how this valuable tool works. Play both scales, and you will
realize that they both have the same notes. The actual guitar
licks from the main guitar solo (shown below), clearly
demonstrate this.
This is the actual ending guitar solo, divided into 8 guitar
licks, to help make this easy to learn, while providing a
clear understanding of soloing for example, in "Low G", then
moving up the neck playing in "High G", or G octave scale.
