                            About

Bob Daisley was born Febuary 13th, 1950. At age 13, he began
Spanish guitar lessons. During an instrumental performance during
his lessons, Bob had chosen to play the electric bass guitar,
upon feeling and hearing the warmth and backbone of the instrument.
His mother being supportive of his musical carreer bought him his
first bass guitar ( a Futurama) in 1964. His older sister was also
a major influence by playing rock-n-roll records from the fifties.

Since his early youth as a student of the bass guitar, Bob has
played and written music with the most respected names in the
music industry. Including, Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath (who had
first hired, then fired Ozzy Osbourne) , Ritchie Blackmore of Deep
Purple / Rainbow, Ronnie James Dio, Jeff Watson, Steve Vai, Kahvas
Jute, Mungo Jerry, Chicken Shack, Uriah Heep, Ozzy Osbourne, Yngwie
Malmsteen, Zack Wylde, Jake E. Lee, and the late Randy Rhoads.

Bob has since moved forth in his musical career forming his own
musical projects such as "Mothers Army" and most recently :
"The Hoochie Coochie Men".

Bass Lesson One This lesson, will feature the riffs from The Hoochie Coochie Men's latest release "I Just Wanna Make Love To You" As we analyze the main riff, which is based upon A pentatonic minor. This riff has a very bouncy feel , and the hammer-on technique that lies between the 5th and 7th fret on the A string, is what makes it smooth in sound. Shown first is the actual scale A pentatonic minor, followed by the actual riff. Scale Riff #1 A C D E G A h G :------------------------------------------------------ D :-------------5--7----------------------5-------------- A :-------5--7------------------------5-7----5----------- E :-5--8----------------5-5-5-5--5-5--------------------- This next riff is analyzed being taken from the mode D mixolydian. Shown first is the mode, followed by the actual riff. This riff has a nice steady ride on the tonic note D, adding the filler notes inbetween. D mixolydian Riff #2 D E F# G A B C D G :----------------4--5--7------------------------------- D :-------4--5--7---------------------------------------- A :-5--7--------------------------5-5-5-5-5-5-5-5-------- E :------------------------------------------------------ G :-7----5----4----5------------------------------------- D :------------------------------------------------------ A :---5----5----5----5----------------------------------- E :----------------------5------------------------------- Special Comments From Bob Daisley In my mind, blues music is responsible for the ground work and foundation of what we call rock'n'roll - even that term (r'n'r) came from the coloured folk,it meant to have sex.(as did "jazz") Hence my current project"The Hoochie Coochie Men"(named after the Muddy Waters song penned by Willie Dixon) is a tribute to the roots of popular music. The song tabs here for the song "I just Wanna Make Love to You" is the first track on the album and is also written by Willie Dixon - I hope you enjoy our treatment/arrangement of it..... And f ' those interested in a serious bass solo (not "widdley widdley" stuff but serious tasteful playing) check out an album entitled "Donny Hathaway Live" featuring Willie Weeks on bass - recorded in around 1972 but still one of the all time best! Seems like I've got a "Willie fetish" but I can't help their names, and besides I couldn't find a song writer or bass player with the name "Pussy" somebody.ha! All the best, Bob Daisley.
